Hello!

I am Barton Sloan and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Alaska. I moved to Washington in August of 2015 from Anchorage, Alaska. I began my career in Anchorage in 1988 after graduating with my MSW in California, where I grew up. I started with an Employee Assistance Program, and then worked at a psychiatric hospital before going into private practice full time in 1999.

I am experienced in working with adults, children, adolescents, families, and couples for a variety of issues. Although I am adept at various forms of therapy, I primarily practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and weave other modalities into this. I have a great deal of experience working with trauma, attachment, depression; anxiety, panic, dissociation; chemical dependency, anger management, stress reduction; chronic pain, and migraine headaches. Whatever the issue, I focus on healing.  My goal is for my clients to heal from whatever has troubled them, and for them to leave therapy with a stronger sense of self and well-being.

I am a therapist who likes to get to the point and achieve the goals that have been set within an atmosphere where my clients feel heard, understood, and safe.
